There are countless articles and research papers on the benefits of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), but did you know that it can also be used to help you age gracefully? A true natural alternative to surgery or Botox, Mei Rong, or Chinese facial rejuvenation is merely an extension of TCM philosophy.
Unlike an injection of Botox or some other filler, Mei Rong addresses not just the signs of aging like fine lines and wrinkles but it also helps to restore your skin’s overall health. There are also many other “positive” side effects to this approach such as improved stress management, better digestion, relief of sinus pressure and improved sleep.
As a holistic skin expert, and the founder of Beautypuncture® Facial Rejuvenation System, I have extensive education in Mei Rong and use these ancient techniques in tandem with modern esthetic technology from the US and Korea to create a customized treatment plan for each person’s unique skin.
While you may be familiar with cosmetic acupuncture, or even microneedling, you may not know that there are ways of accomplishing similar (and sometimes superior) results without puncturing the skin.
What to Expect
During a typical Far East Fusion Facial procedure, we will start by scanning your face with an AI enhanced software and take some hydration measurements. Then we will take photos followed by a deep cleanse, exfoliation and extractions (if needed)
During your service I will utilize acupoints and meridians on the face and body and may use a variety of methods to stimulate them including nanotechnology, electrostimulation, manual pressure, gua sha, cupping and herbal poultices. Working with meridians and acupoints can help stimulate your lymphatic and circulatory systems. These systems are responsible for delivering the nutrients and oxygen our skin cells need to nourish the skin from the inside out. Another benefit is that certain modalities like nanotechnology and electrostimulation helps to produce collagen, which improves the skin’s elasticity which then minimizes fine lines and wrinkles.
While it will probably take more than one treatment to achieve lasting results, it is incredibly enjoyable and mostly painless (except the occasional extraction).
Mei Rong vs. Botox
Now that you know what to expect with a typical Far East Fusion session at my office, let’s look at the difference between this and a typical Botox treatment. Unlike Mei Rong, Botox can’t treat the wrinkles that are due to aging or exposure to the sun. Botox really only works on smile and frown lines. Users also might not be able to raise their eyebrows or have other facial expressions.
With Botox treatments, there is also a risk of paralysis of the surrounding muscles, and it could also cause the upper eyelid to droop. Botox also provides only temporary results. Think of it this way, the more you get Botox, the more you need to achieve that same result. And one of my biggest concerns is that the long-term effects are just not that well known.
How Many Treatments do I Need?
An ideal course of treatment for most people consists of approximately 6-10 consecutive treatments, every one to two weeks for 12 weeks. Users may notice positive results after just a few sessions, but the full course of treatments allows for deeper and lasting results. Regular maintenance sessions can help to maintain results. Treatments can also be spaced out if budget or time commitment is a concern. Yes, you will get similar results, it just may take a little longer to get there.
It’s also important to note that I will not just be treating your face, but your whole body as well. Each treatment is tailored to your specific goals. No two people receive the same treatments because each person’s aging process is their own. There are a variety of issues that can develop due to aging such as sleep disorders, chronic pain or digestive issues. All of these things must be addressed for your facial treatments to have maximum effectiveness.
At my office I will always utilize a thorough health intake to assess your issues, address your concerns and answer any questions before your treatment.
So, if Botox and its side effects have you nervous about long-term use, talk to me about my methods and how it might get you results that are just as good, if not better, with far less risk. Put your best face forward with Mei Rong!
